Microsoft “COPILOT” will really let you Fly High

Microsoft COPILOT: our New Artificial Intelligence (AI) best friend and AI integration across Windows 11, Bing, Edge, and Microsoft 365 which enhances designs in Paint using DALL-E 3

(DALL-E, DALL-E 2, and DALL-E 3 are text-to-image models developed by Open AI using deep learning methodologies to generate digital images from natural language descriptions, called “prompts”,

and offers smarter browsing in Edge. This new AI feature revolutionizes user experience and productivity. You can read the full article on the link below

Hi readers! You will agree with me that we all want to work and work passionately but  currently, we spend too much time, creativity, and energy in work that hampered our efforts involved in labor of work on tasks that kill our time, creativity and energy to reconnect to the soul of our work. We, therefore, need a better way of doing our work.

The next-generation AI precisely is that new way of work where Microsoft 365 Copilot will help us enhance our creativity and productivity at work.

“It combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with data in Microsoft Graph and the Microsoft 365 apps to turn the words into the most powerful productivity tool on the planet and the next major step in the evolution of how we interact with computing, which will fundamentally change the way we work and unlock a new wave of productivity growth”

The Chairman and CEO, Microsoft says, “our new copilot will give people more support and technology and will be  more accessible through the most universal interface: the natural language (NL)”

NL interface is a user interface where the user and the system communicate via natural (human) language. The user provides input via speech or some other method, and the system generates responses in the form of words/exclamations/expression/remarks/declaration.

Copilot is integrated into Microsoft 365 in two ways. It either works beside you via, embedded in the Microsoft 365 apps that we use every day in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

(Microsoft Teams is a proprietary business communication platform developed by Microsoft as part of the Microsoft 365 family of products. Teams primarily competes with the similar service drooping or taut, offering workspace chat and video conferencing, file storage and application integration) etc.,

to release/unlock creativity for enhancing our productivity and uplevel tasks (that requires pulling the data from existing tools and uses machine learning to transform that data into engineering metrics and actionable insights).

Another way of Copilot integration into Microsoft 365 is through Business Chat that works across the LLM model, the Microsoft 365 apps, and our data, calendar, emails, chats, documents, meetings and contacts to do things that we have never been able to do before. A reminder or stimuli (like “Tell my team how we update the product strategy”) given in natural language prompts and it will generate a status update based on the morning’s meetings, emails and chat threads (along with copilot) that will help us to decide what to keep, modify or discard thereby making us more creative in Word, more analytical in Excel, more expressive in PowerPoint, more productive in Outlook and more collaborative in Teams. Amazing, isn’t it?

It is Microsoft 365 copilot dear readers that can transforms our work in three ways:

It can unleash creativity.

In Word, we can jump-start the creative process as, we never start with a blank slate again. Copilot gives us a first draft to edit thereby saving hours in writing, sourcing, and editing time.

Sometimes copilot will be right, but it can be wrong as well, nevertheless, it will always put us further ahead and keep us in control as the author, driving our unique ideas forward, prompting copilot to shorten, rewrite, and/or give us feedback.

Copilot in PowerPoint helps us create beautiful presentations with a simple prompt/stimuli, adding relevant content from a document that we made last week or last year which means we can automate repetitive tasks, create chatbots and go from idea to working app in minutes,

Copilot in Excel  can analyze trends and create professional looking data visualizations in seconds,

Copilot in Outlook helps us clear inbox in minutes, and made every meeting a productive as it can summarize key discussion points including “who said what and where people are aligned and where they disagree” and suggest action items, all in real time during a meeting,

It can unlock productivity as it will never let us detract you from our actual work because it (copilot) alleviate unnecessary /irrelevant (sometime essential) workload such as summarizing long email threads to quickly drafting suggested replies,

Git hub data shows that copilot promises to unlock productivity for everyone including developers: 88% of whom say they are more productive, 74% say that they can focus on more satisfying work, and 77% say it helps them spend less time searching for information or examples.

(GIT stands for Global Information Tracker, is a powerful and widely used version control system commonly used for software development and other collaborative projects. The full form of GIT is just the beginning of understanding the powerful capabilities of this tool).

It creates a new knowledge model for every organization harnessing the massive reservoir of data and insights that lies largely inaccessible and untapped today.

Business Chat works across all business data and apps to surface the information and insights needed from a sea of data allowing the knowledge to flow freely across the organization, saving valuable time searching for answers.

(Business Chat can be accessed from Microsoft 365.com, from Bing when signed in with our work account, or from Teams.

It can up level skills.

Copilot makes us better at what we are good at and lets us quickly master what we have not yet learned. The average person uses only a handful of commands such as “animate a slide” or “insert a table” from the thousands available across Microsoft 365. Now, all that rich functionality is unlocked using just natural language, and this is only the beginning as in very near future,

“Copilot will fundamentally change how people work with AI and how AI works with people. As with any new pattern of work, there’s a learning curve but those who embrace this new way of working will quickly gain an Edge”.

This is necessary for you dear reader because very soon, copilot will be in all our productivity apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Viva, Power Platform, and what not.

Dynamics 365 (announced in March 2023) is the world’s first AI copilot available in both CRM (Customer Relationship Management and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning): the two options for companies looking to simplify and improve their business processes to bring the next-generation AI to every line of business. Everyone deserves to find purpose and meaning in their work and Microsoft 365 copilot can do the needful.

To serve the unmet needs of our customers, we must move quickly and responsibly. The CEO Microsoft says, “we’re testing copilot with a small group of customers to get feedback and improve our models as we scale up, and we will expand to more soon”.

What do you think dear readers? I am using Edge and Windows 11. What are you using?

See you next week. Take care,

Bye
