Artificial Intelligence (AI)PIN

Hi readers! get ready for yet another news from tsunami of technology.

Humane: a platform that creates and sells consumer hardware, software, and services that feel familiar, natural, and humane. The company is dedicated to creating cutting-edge technology that is both human and natural feeling.

As announced by the concerned person on November 16th, 2023, AI PIN is a:

Revolutionary wearable device for a smartphone-free world.

It is a $699 wearable redefined connectivity without screens or keyboards.

Humane officially launches the AI Pin, its OpenAI-powered wearable – The Verge

Humane was founded in 2018 by ex-Apple employees Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri (who according to  The Wall Street Journal are “husband and wife). Bongiorno (the wife): an ex-software engineer of Apple is Humane’s CEO while Chaudhri serves as chairman and president at Humane.

After extended speculation, both Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno has officially unveiled the AI PIN: a revolutionary wearable device centered on artificial intelligence.

The Pin itself is a square device that magnetically clip to clothes or other surfaces(Please see image below). The clip is more than just a magnet as it is also a battery pack, which means one can exchange it with new batteries throughout the day to keep the Pin running thereby enabling users to access various services through voice commands, touch gestures, or a laser projector.

The AI Pin does a lot of smartphone things but nothing like a smartphone.

The AI PIN claims to have a Snapdragon processor.

Snapdragon is a suite of system on a chip semiconductor products for mobile devices designed and marketed by Qualcomm Technologies Inc. The Snapdragon’s central processing unit uses the ARM architecture. As such, Qualcomm often refers to Snapdragon as a “mobile platform”.

Smartphones and mobile devices built with Snapdragon mobile platforms are capable of immersive (deep absorption) augmented reality and virtual reality experiences, brilliant camera capabilities, superior 4G LTE and 5G connectivity, and the latest security solutions.

AI Pin also possesses an Ultra-wide camera, depth sensors, and a speaker, and an internal battery with flexibility of rapid battery replacement through an external magnetically attached power source. The device as whole has positioned itself as the new way to connect to the world with the ultimate aim is to replace traditional smartphones, allowing users to stay connected without the reliance on screens or keyboards.

The device can receive calls, messages, and notifications directly on the Pin. Responding to notices can be done smoothly through voice or touch commands. Also, users can control music playback, select songs, manage playlists, or adjust volume settings. Furthermore, AI Pin influences its environmental awareness (which means being aware of the natural environment and making choices that can be beneficial) to compare product prices in stores or provide nutritional information for food items.

Humane says, by tapping the AI Pin, one can ask it to do smartphone things like making phone calls, sending texts, playing music or catching on emails.

The device is also equipped with a laser projector that can cast a UI (user interface: a point of human-computer interaction and communication in a device) onto our hand to control (Please see the image below).

Humane assures users that the Pin does not continuously listen or record. Users has to and must manually activate the Pin through touch, with a dedicated light indicating when recording is in progress.

That’s how privacy concerns are addressed.

It is not yet known how long a single battery will last, but the device ships with two “battery boosters”. It has a built-in speaker, which according to Humane is called a “personic speaker” (or a person specific speaker?)

which can be connected to Bluetooth headphones.”

The persoinc speaker uses a Head Related Transfer Function (HRTF: a response that characterizes how a particular ear receives a sound from a point in space) to create a personally optimized bubble of sound at a fixed distance irrespective of how soft or loud is it?

Humane claims that AI Pin is a stand-alone device rather than a smartphone accessory. All user data is stored in the cloud as part of an artificial intelligence model.

The device, worth $699, includes a charger and two battery boosters. However, a monthly subscription of $24 is required for T-Mobile cellular network connectivity, access to the AI model, and cloud storage for information and photos.

Humane website says,

“it believes in building innovative technology that feels familiar, natural, and human, and technology that enhances human experience and is driven by good intentions”.

Humane website also says,

“its products reconnect us with ourselves, each other, and the world around us”.

“Humane says,

we are established on the principle that we all deserve more from technology”.

Interested in purchasing the device dear reader?

Wait! It is not yet launched in Pakistan. The status conscious branded people, however, can Purchase it in the United States as it a routine matter for them. Let’s see who purchase it first or receive it as a gift?

See you next week.

Take care,

Bye.
